SNAP Outreach

In Illinois, 188,000 seniors are using SNAP. Are you? The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as food stamps), is a program that helps pay for groceries. Join us for a brief presentation from AgeOptions on what SNAP is, information on how to apply, and a screening to see if you are eligible. Registration required. Limit 15.

Pen Decorating

Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body: Tips from the Latest Research

For centuries, we’ve known that the health of the brain and the body are connected. But now, science is able to provide insights into how to make lifestyle choices that may help you keep your brain and body healthy as you age. Join us to learn about  research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement, and hands-on tools to help you incorporate these recommendations into a plan for healthy aging. Presented by the Alzheimer’s Association, Illinois Chapter. Registration required. Limit 25.

Henna Tattoos

Wed. May 29 @ 6:00 – 8:00 PM
Teens and adults are invited to learn about henna tattoos. Bek from Tattoo Heathen is coming to our library to give henna tattoos, along with bringing handouts and extra cones and bottles to try it yourself! Permission forms will be available at the library ahead of time and at the workshop. Henna tattoos are 100 percent natural and last approximately two weeks to a month. Limit 15.

Funding for our Senior programs and activities was provided by AgeOptions, a nonprofit organization connecting older adults and those who care for them with resources and service options so they can live their lives to the fullest.
